• DM from Tom. How about opening on Norwegian leg of full band shows celebrating debut album around Europe. Yes. Thanks. And it went down very well. Always a pleasure to open for Tom. He’s got a lovely crowd. Fans. Real fans. Music fans. They listen. It’s dead quiet, hearing needles drop… also under my performance. Probably a crossover audience. They like him, they like me. And there is some history… my first ever shows as a solo artist was back in 2004 supporting Tom in Bergen and Oslo. And several shows in between then and now. So we are used to each other. Perfect. Thanks. This is what I played…

  • Hi folks!

My new song is out and I am so happy to share it with you! You’ll find it in all digital outlets…

I’d describe it as a melodically uplifting yet melancholic soft rock tune with some thoughts on business and friendship that I at some point reflected on…

…an ending, as heartbreaking as it can be. What has become of me?

Hope you like it – and I gratefully appreciate it if you’d share it with your friends, family and business associates ;)

  • Hi, it’s been a while…

I am busy taking care of my 17 months old daughter… being the homemaker of the family. We’re having so much fun, building Lego, drawing cats and horses and circles… (st)rolling up and down Torshov a couple of times every day. And she loves to ride her 3-wheel scooter. I have my hands full.

So any news in form of music? Kinda.
As far as my new album is concerned, I am working on the lyrics all fall.

So what is this update all about? A song.

I am participating on a tribute album (“SANNHET PÅ BOKS”) for Raga Rockers, one of the finest rock bands of Norway, covering their song ‘En Vakker Dag’. More than a hundred Norwegian bands and artists are taking part in this crowd-funded project from New Jelly (Sannhet På Boks). I decided to produce it the way I did with The Button Moulder, so I recorded and played all instruments myself… and got a little help with the mix from my friend Lars Voldsdal (the producer of my new studio album). Pretty satisfied.

The song, the first ever (for me) to be sung in my native tongue, will be released on October 29. It will also have its radio premiere the same day on Ordentlig Radio (ordentligradio.no)!

    Best,
    -robert

Here is a snippet of the song on SoundCloud…

  • Comment with Artist/SongTitle and I’ll record it in a minute and put it on SoundCloud this afternoon!!! Go to Facebook and share this update so that your friends can suggest songs too.

I am putting down final touches to the mix of a cover of Norwegian rock band Raga Rockers right now… Very pleased with the result.

But… I need a bit of extra fun before I go home today.

It’s been 10 years since my eponymous debut. So it’s an anniversary! I will celebrate. I will update old posts with memorabilia. And I will write new posts – heck of a lot more often then in recent years.

I am recording a new studio album – “Without A Shield” – with producer Lars Voldsdal. It will be released this fall. I am doing 52 House Concerts. I am planning tours. The first one goes down in Italy in February. And while I am in Italy I will be recording in a studio just outside Florence – with Italian musicians. Songs that will not be included on “Without A Shield”. THE FLORENCE SESSIONS. Will I be singing in Italian…? Who knows.

And if festivals are keen I am showing up there as well. With or without my extended band. Never been much of a festival type of artist. I prefer the smaller clubs. Or your living room. But if stepping it up a notch, like 10 years ago, I will return to bigger stages. Because I do love to play loud as well. With my electric guitars. So after all… to be honest, with you, true to myself… et cetera, blah, blah, blah… electric.

    Eclectic.

And all those living room shows. They will released as #BOOTLEGS. How cool is that… you can actually be a venue for an official live bootleg. RAWNESS> like a carrot unboiled. Setlist decided by audience. Always a cover song or two. Any genre. (!!!)

Well, well, well… it’s a deep well. I am at the moment working on my demos. 100 songs. Down to 15 for “WaS”. And 6 for Italy. Some will be put out as the Demo Pick of the Week on my SoundCloud.

    So…

Join me. Here. ‘Cause it’s in here it will happen.

I will be by myself, attached only to a guitar and a backpack, and will be doing a series of house concerts throughout Europe.

I need you in a particular city who will find a large house (maybe a coffee house if no houses are suitable), hopefully that can comfortably fit 50-200 people, not bother the neighbors, easy for parking.

Then you will invite your friends to come to this concert at the house which I will play. And even better, you will decide the playlist and also vote for a cover song that I will play at the concert!

You want me to come to your place?

Send me a private message (artist page, please) with your contact details and I will get in touch!

    All the best,

The tracks on Sleepwalking was composed by Alf Vold who died of cancer in 2003, and the profits went to Kreftforeningen (the Norwegian Cancer Society). Most of the contributing musicians lived in Bergen.

  • “Between Two Waves 2”

    Band Name: After the Noise
Song Title: Those Were The Days
Written by: Ingrid Støylen Runde / Robert Post
All instruments played, recorded and mixed by Robert Post
    Produced by Robert Post

Silja from eardrumspop hooked us up! At the time she had no idea we already knew each other, and that Ingrid had heard Robert do an amazing solo gig at the world’s smallest festival (aka our friends tiny boathouse party) in beautiful Hjørundfjord. We found that different musical backgrounds and mutual friends was a good starting point for collaborating.

Ingrid: “For me, this was a first – I’ve hardly ever co-written anything, and never via e-mail. So it was slightly nerve wrecking to send my lo-fi sketches (no one ever hears my sketches normally) to a musician I admire. But then, to receive sketches back from Robert, hear his version of my ideas, his new ideas and how he developed the music and brought his magic – amazing feeling! And really inspiring to talk about the whole song writing process, how ideas develop, how you sometimes don’t know what a song is about before it’s written and somehow the lyrics live a life of their own.”

Robert: “I’ve done a few co-writes on songs included on my own solo albums, but never done anything like this before. We “decided” that I’d just get a sketch from Ingrid and then let it develop from there. Instead of composing parts to finish the song I thought I just start recording and producing it in the studio right away.”

Ingrid is a singer and teacher living in Oslo. Her previous projects and collaborations are varied to say the least; from improvisational music through French chanson, singing own takes on 60s pop music in the duo When the Ship Comes In, and now writing in Norwegian for her jazz and folk-inspired trio.

Norwegian singer, composer and lyricist Robert Post debuted with a worldwide release of his eponymous titled album in 2005. Awarded Best Male Artist and Best Video at the Norwegian equivalent to the Grammys the same year, etc.

Ingrid: “I guess I provided the initial idea first. Sent a verse and some refrains to Robert, played some sparse chords and bass on a midi keyboard in my bedroom and sang into my laptop, added some gibberish lyrics where I hadn’t made anything, to get the feel of a form. Then Robert brought the track to his studio and started recording a guitar on top of it, and then another guitar, a bass, and some drums, and then he made some vocal harmonies (that gave me the chills), and sent it back to me. Then we met in Oslo, to write some more lyrics and record my vocals again.”

Robert: “I asked Ingrid to send me a song sketch and then take it from there. I loved the rawness of the demo, the mood and the feel to it. So rather then writing new parts, as I thought I would, I began recording on top of the demo. Something, which gave me a lot of headache as I slowly moved forward producing the track. It took a lot of editing, cut and paste of my own recorded drum and bass parts to end up with the feel I was looking for. It still sounds a bit off. But I’m happy about it. Two guitar tracks made up the basics and that gave me the direction for everything else.

Ingrid and I met up on a Friday morning finishing the lyrics at my place, then recording her vocals in a rented rehearsal space in downtown Oslo in the afternoon. I brought the session to the studio where I usually work (Velvet Recording) and finished the mix with just a few extra overdubs and harmonies on my vocal parts.”

  • My new song ‘My Body’ is finally out. You can find it everywhere. YouTube it. Buy it on iTunes. And if you are patient about it – I am sure it will be available on-demand and to stream as well. For all I know, it’s up tomorrow… on Spotify and the likes. All I care about is that it’s out there. Available for you. That you can enjoy it on your stereo at home, in your earplugs on the buss, from your computer while studying human anatomy or whatever preferred.

    I hope you like it.

About a month ago I was supposed to travel with my band to Italy to do some festivals. They got cancelled (I am sure the full story will be out there by the time The Button Moulder is out). So what I did, instead of feeling sorry for myself, I decided that I needed to make an album. Not the one that I was working on (rhetoric season two), but a brand new. Perhaps it was a sign from below. “Dude, you gotta get yourself together and have some fun. While it lasts.”

So I packed my guitar and a bag full of sketches on paper, on tape and on Voice Memos and drove to Spydeberg. 45 minutes outside of Oslo. Velvet Recordings, a state-of-the-art studio, located on such a remote place that there is not even a chance a single beer would disturb you. And I know where the key is, and the security code’s 4 digits, ’cause the people owning and running the place are such great guys to let me lock myself in… whenever.

A comment on the process is already out there on YouTube. If you read details rather then watch – this video…

    – that is nothing more than a picture of me. Staring back at you. Listen. And read how this song came about.

Some of you might have noticed that this song is on my latest record (rhetoric season one, 2011) and yes, that is true. I had to start with something that I could handle. Turn it into my moon – to use for guidance. So that the rest of the album would be possible to imagine recorded by the scheduled deadline that I had already put down.

I have given myself a month to finish this. I commenced the recording sessions on August 8 and set the release date to be October 21. That’s a hell of lot of work to squeeze in – but the juices of such fruit is very tasty so I couldn’t resist…

I have eleven songs lined up. For you. My friends. And fans. Eleven songs that I have recorded all by myself. Day and night. Sometimes for 20 hours straight. I play everything except the obvious – the violin, that my violinist Lise takes care of. I build stone by stone. Drums. Bass. Guitars. Vocals. Sounds. Sometimes turned upside-down. And I get proud. And frustrated. And confused. And pissed-off angry. But for the most, I am very happy in this desolate environment, all by myself – but in company with what I love more than anything.

    “Information is not knowledge.
    Knowledge is not wisdom.
    Wisdom is not truth.
    Truth is not beauty.
    Beauty is not love.
    Love is not music.
    Music is THE BEST.”

    Frank Zappa, Joe’s Garage (1979)

  • On Monday morning August 26 I finished my first ever mixing of a song done entirely by me. I had to do last bit of vocals on Sunday evening during mixing as I wasn’t all too pleased with what I already had on tape. That aside, I am very pleased with the result of the whole process and the song, if I may say so myself, is sounding great! In fact, one of my finest works.

All that self-esteem like an erupting volcano, dangerous to be around, likely to fail if embodied… Will it explode with fire or implode like so many times before?

    Love,
    -robert

Almost all of the sessions were recorded on analogue equipment with little or no possibility of automation when mixing. I actually filmed us on one occasion doing this and that was during the mixdown of Message.

  • In between recording two new albums I am doing a few shows here and there. Since I never was any good at keeping up the momentum of past successes I’ve hardly done anything to make sure people remember me from time to time. Now I woke up the other day thinking; I haven’t really played a proper show in Oslo in 5 years. Just one-offs as part of a charity event, an acoustic club night with two or more acts, release parties announced on the day of the release, etc. I’ve been really shit at this. Perhaps it’s just the result of the independence I strived for and the fact that I am, with Aimee Mann’s words, a Super-Ego.

    ORIGINAL POST:

We have spent the last couple of months redesigning the website (www.robertpost.no) and getting ready for launching it together with my new album being released. Today the album is out and I am so happy about it. It’s been quite a frustrating journey to get this album out to say the least. I don’t have any clues how many times it supposedly was scheduled for a release but I guess it speaks for the whole process, because so many things have moved forward in a slow pace the last couple of years. I have been moving forward only when feeling creative, I only worked on my music when inspired, and to be honest, I sometimes like it better not being part of the music industry. I love the music, but not the industry.

Anyways, things are different now. I have found peace by sitting on the fence for a while and I have made my way through concentrating on what I like the best and never compromise on my career. It’s all controllable if you only control it yourself. Through innumerous opportunities and not being able to pick the right one I have seen myself go down. Now trying my best to choose a direction of perfection and profession of a different kind.

I see good things coming. And the start is with this album; Disarm & Let Go.

The album is available to buy from all major downloading stores around the world.

A hard copy of the album is available to purchase from:

    cdon.eu and platekompaniet.no

    I hope you like it!

    All the best,

    -robert

  • On a night off I watched Once Upon A Time In America on TV, and as the scene with the girl dancing was approaching I felt the urge to film it and turn it into a music video for the song I Find It Strange. So I used my iPhone and the 8mm-app and filmed for 4 minutes (the length of the song) and then put the music on top of it in iMovie. No editing. There you have it.

  • This is my first ever live performance singing a song in Norwegian. I am covering a song by Jan Eggum, perhaps Norway’s finest songwriter.

  • I have had some requests about making this song available for the public. And it is one of those songs people search my website for. Now I have uploaded the song on my SoundCloud page for you to check out. The song was originally recorded for the Ocean Sessions EP but only released as a bonus track for the initial iTunes release in 2007 on Nettwerk Records. Have not been available since, but will be included on the LP version of Disarm & Let Go / Ocean Sessions EP that will be cut to vinyl directly from analog masters. Due out TBC.

  • On February 20 I posted this on Facebook.

So I guess I had to do it.

Listen in context of the dogme-like way of which I was producing it. I haven’t used any other recording equipment than the built-in microphone on my Mac and a few software instruments. It was quite a stressful recording situation but at the same time I found it creatively challenging in positive terms. It was moments of fun and some of despair… banging my head against the wall for the obvious reasons you would experience if ever trying to record a bass guitar or drums through a PC-microhone. Even worse – the vocals…

I leave you to it, and present you THE BUTTON MOULDER’S WALTZ:

    pt 1 be kind
    pt 2 buttom moulder’s waltz
    pt 3 fair game
    pt 4 operation odyssey dawn

    UPDATE 2013
Since I have decided to call my new album The Button Moulder and that some ideas from this production is involved in that I have to take down the free downloads for now. It may be that I will make it available again. But as for now… You gotta wait for THE BUTTON MOULDER on October 25, 2013.

    It was done on this:

And finally, as promised – I made the artwork in the Photo Booth!

    Best,
    -robert

PS i did use pro tools to cut the final wav file and photoshop elements for the title on the artwork. that’s it.

  • Norwegian streaming service WIMP has exclusively made available The Shins’ new album. So I thought I’d have a listen. I am disappointed.

    Should I deepen my thoughts?

I just think it’s too much focus on the production and not so many good songs. Sounds like they’ve had comfortable chairs sitting around the studio making high-fives for every edit that they could produce to make the song better. It’s become common practise.

Or is it just the fever of mine that is shaking my foundation!?!

    Hope I get well soon!
    Ta da.

  • I just found the original sketch and lyrics for a song from the Ocean Sessions EP (2007).

    It’s Never Gonna Be Perfect, sketches/lyrics (2006).

Back in 2006 when I was writing for a follow-up EP to my eponymous debut album, I was thinking of doing a duet with someone. Going through different demos and songs that I had laying around I came by a recording of the song “It’s Never Gonna Be Perfect” that I had done the basic tracks for in a studio outside Bergen, Norway.

I actually helped build this studio back in the days when I was recording albums with Sissy Dogfish. We recorded the single “Win This Race” (2000) and “What Happens Next?” (2002) there.

Then, recording the EP at Ocean Sound Recordings (the original boat house studio), I thought why not include this song and get a female singer to do parts on it. Since I had already gotten my management to ask Marit Larsen’s people whether she’d sing with me on the A-side, Message, and without any luck on that (she was probably too busy or not keen) decided to think of someone else for the B-side.

    FILMING FINAL MIXDOWN OF MESSAGE

In 2005 I toured with Aimee Mann on shows in the UK, Ireland and France. We got along well. She gave me some well advised “things-to-think-about” and look out for, me being signed to a major label, and she told me about the ways of being independent and how to run my own little business. Anyways, I sent an email to my management asking them to contact Aimee.

It was a good idea, they said, but decided that they had a better plan. One of the bands on the Nettwerk label called Sixpence None The Richer had a lead singer who was a big fan of my debut album and they thought she would be the perfect match for the song – so they asked her.

I knew of Leigh and her beautiful and cool voice from Sixpence’s hit-single Kiss Me and was instantly keen on working with her. She replied with “I’ll literally eat shit to do this” and from that moment on we didn’t look back. My engineer put down a rough mix of the song, sent an mp3 over the Atlantic, Leigh recorded her lead with two harmony tracks and I got it back by no time to put it in the final mix. Fantastic!

KISS ME (SHE’S ALL THAT OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)

That was my first and, to this day, only transatlantic collaboration. I have ever since been tremendously thankful to Leigh for her help on making this song so much better and that’s why I now, after finding the original hand-written lyric, had to tell you the story behind the recording of my first duet.

The song was released digitally on the Ocean Sessions EP worldwide on April 29, 2007 through Nettwerk Music and distributed in Norway on CD through my own label Bobfloat Music and Playground Music on May 15, 2007.

    Here’s the song:

You can hear the whole EP on SoundCloud. If a physical copy is what you like, send an email to Bobfloat Music and they’ll give you the details on how to go forward.

Peace and Love, and thank you LEIGH NASH!!!

  • I finally got one of my full-length albums on vinyl. My new record RHETORIC was released on November 4 on LP and CD, as well as the modern way of buying or listening to music… digital download and streaming. Anyways, let’s focus on the fresh smell of this black circle of beauty. From before I only got a couple 7inch singles out (Got None and Beirut) so this is the first Long Player I have put out on vinyl.

When I was a kid, my brother and I threw half of my dad’s record collection as Frisbees all over the vast fields outside my grandpa’s house and all the way down to the ocean. And they all got smashed. I remember that they wore different colors and that there were lots of them. We didn’t know what was on them. It was a lot of fun. We left the small pieces of plastic to be buried and forgotten between growing green grass and wild flowers. Later I found out that there was music on these round plastic plates that I so playfully tossed away.

I discovered another passion in life. It’s just the feel when I lay down that crooked arm, the paper sleeve…

Just like Eddie Vedder sings it in the song Spin The Black Circle from Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy. “Viva la Vinyl” – scribbled down next to the lyrics in the booklet. It was huge for me to understand that my biggest idol at the time had the same love for vinyl records as myself at a point where the CD took over the whole market and LP’s were being stopped manufactured (at least from the major labels). I kept trying to get hold of any record that I loved on vinyl. Most of them I got from record dealers selling old records. New releases on this format were few and far between, but Pearl Jam kept it real all along and that’s why I got to collect LP’s of their complete catalogue up to this day. They even put out Christmas singles on 7inches just for the fans and members of the Ten Club. I always loved them for doing that.

So when I was invited to a student’s club night in Oslo called Vin & Vinyl (Wine & Vinyl, see how similar Norwegian is to English?) to play and talk about vinyl and also do a show I had no choice but to pay tribute to the number one band of my teenage years. I covered the aforementioned song. Here’s a video clip of it:

  • I have sent the RHETORIC master and artwork to manufacturing. Been struggling all week with the sequencing of this album, sometimes a tough nut to crack. After exchanging views on this with my good friend Egil Olsen and my girlfriend, who’s occasionally been working as a DJ and therefor has this natural hunch about the order of songs or maybe it was that…

female intuition thing that shone threw,
    pew,
    (and that helped a lot.)
    THANKS You2.

The album will be released on CD (Digipack) unlimited and on 12″ vinyl (180 gr) limited to 500 copies and numbered. On the digital releases there will be one extra song. The vinyl is just gonna be the good-looking fella and therefor doesn’t need that extra song. And here you have the album sleeve as designed by Egil Olsen – the singer/songwriter – not the football manager (just had to, just had to clear that).

    You like that?
    I do.

So about time I release another song from the album. In form of a video. You have heard this song before if you took the time to listen to the live album that I released in July this year. Frontline and Landing – the two first songs that I finished in the process of making RHETORIC (season one).  And here’s the official LANDING music video.

    You like that?
    I do.

    Hugs and Kisses,
    -bOb tOast

PS! Listen to a live version of the single from Live at Ocean Sound Recordings, you can also buy it on iTunes, Amazon, etc. plus stream on Spotify and WIMP.

  • I’ve spent all of September recording and mixing my new album Rhetoric. Even though I have only spent about 15 days in the studio it has been in creation and in my head 24/7 all month. It’s a lot of music to come up with, consume, develop, ennoble and strengthen since I decided to play all instruments (apart from strings, Lise does that) myself and therefor is challenging to manage and overview. It’s been hectic, intensive, creative and, not to say the least, a lot of fun. My companion in the process has been the ever so great Rune Berg who, this time, has been engineering and mixing (sometimes even co-produced!, thanks for that, it wasn’t in the deal), so all in good hands.

Tonight we are putting down the final mix.

This album is my proudest moment. It feels like it’s first now, after so many years since my debut, that I have finally come back to be the playful, spontaneous and unstudied musician and artist that I so much enjoyed being in the years before signing to a major label and the whirlwind of rules and regulations that came with that. It’s been a roller coaster ride where the valleys are deep, dark and depressive, and the mountain tops, that I so much love, are reaching sky high. Luckily, for me, I enjoy both – it breeds something interesting in both ends and I have always believed in keeping it real. And reality is not toneless.

    With love,
    -robert

If you wanna hang with me on my journey towards my third studio album release, I am going to post updates, describe songs and show you videos from the studio sessions here on this site. Today, all fresh from today’s session, a video of Rune mixing Hold Your Hands Up High.

  • Frontline

Cross the lake / Don’t give, just take / Over on this side it’s much nicer / Leave old habits / Come on catch the rabbits / We’re looking for toy soldiers in line / You’ve never heard screams / At least don’t know what it means / Not so many of them can be trusted / It’s a certain call if you don’t accept the call / We have won the war on both sides already

So hold on to your dreams / And I will find a meaning / While you fight the frontline

A fallen boy in a frame is nothing without a name / That’s why we keep hiding the tracks / So if someone needs a hand / Don’t forget about the plan / First look for victory then the man / There is the one and only truth that’s been given / And after that there’s a world of misguided souls / So don’t give in / You know you will win / Even if it’s in your grave you first find forgiveness

So hold on to your dreams / And I will find a meaning / While you fight the frontline

Now remember your brothers / Get them over the borders / Leave a country of mines left for the innocent / There’s nothing you can do / Now you have seen them chase their own / Just leave your hat on and run / Run

So hold on to your dreams / And I will find a meaning / While you fight the frontline

  • SADNESS IS A BLESSING (lykke li cover)

It’s strange how few cover songs I have managed to put in my shows the last 5 years. I am more and more attracted to the idea that I will always have one or two of my favorite songs in my set list and do my own interpretation of it. So far the list is very short. I can mention Detroit Rock City by KISS, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds by The Beatles, We Are The World by USA for Africa, and these I only played parts from in the middle of a Newborn-jamming situation. 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins is the only song that I played full length. These are songs I’ve done at live shows. And as far as I know I have only covered two songs on radio, one being Yesterday by The Beatles on German radio in Potsdam back in 2006 and Even Flow at some Paris radio show dating back to 2005. That’s it I think.

Well enjoy my first full length YouTube-cover song. Sadness Is A Blessing – one of my favorites this year.

    Love,
    -robert

  • So all I see around me is illusion
Built to trick us all into consumption
And the branches are hanging from the ceiling
And the trees are growing out of plastic soil
And the flowers give me no real feelings
It’s just dead empty and cold

I see people like robots on their round
In and out, in and out, it’s so sound
And the man behind the keyboard he smiles
And the girl behind the counter walks the extra miles
For the customers who bargain on the prize
And swearing, for they cannot find the right size

  • Hi there,

the good news came in yesterday. I am opening for the brilliant Lissie on her two sold out Oslo dates (March 26, 27). Fits perfectly together with the master plan I have scribbled on a napkin in my REM sleep. I will test new songs on an unsuspecting crowd. Songs for upcoming third album. The guitar and I.

As a treat (and of course as promised in the competition that was held back in Jan/Feb) I am now giving away a free download of the song There’s One Thing (right answer competition-wise, my second single from 2005) from the concert I played together with Lise, Ragnhild and Kristian at Ocean Sound Recordings last July.

Now DOWNLOAD, DOWNLOAD, DOWNLOAD. And spread the juice.

    All the best,
    -robert

  • All these houses I visit
I wonder how can they still stand?
    Built on candlelights and flowers
    By defenseless men

It is worrying but I can’t intrude
‘Cause the women of the house would call me rude

    Like…
“Don’t you see we’re content and this was heaven sent?
I was chasing smaller fish in the sea till this big fish landed on me”.

  • So, here I am again. Writing to reach you. Few worries today. Had a great time with my band yesterday. Played 6 new songs. Never played these songs with band before. Hell of a lot of fun. Energy boost. A kick. Like being born on new, sorta. Because it was so fresh. So pure in its form. Just loose. In and out of control and comfort zone. Meaningful. Imperfect, but oh so brilliant. The feeling. The feel. The real… deal. Looking forward to next time.

Until then. A few worries/(thoughts) below. Ha ha ha… like a laughless clown.

(an old note, but somewhat relevant)

    Time flies. I wonder why.

Is it because I am having fun playing around making people smile and cry, or is it as a result of boredom? Like how much fun do a man need before he will look back in hindsight and call it fun. Is my life fun because it really is, or am I just one guy easily amused by daily circumstances? And is time playing a trick on me then? Cause situation is that I experience lack of appreciation for what I have got and that I constantly have a tendency not to embrace life, as beautiful as it is.

Times like these should not be forgotten.

In a corner I will sit and rest. View the mountains mirrored in the sea and watch the seagulls take a hit on the tourists. And I will try to remember my ups – and downs. Learn from it. And appreciate it. Only then the time I have spent on myself and not on others will be worth something. At least. I don’t want to feel like I have betrayed all my principals and I don’t want to shake the foundation from which I was raised.

To care or not to care is not a question.

People will always come and knock you over. And it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It can be that it’s done with a purpose and with good intentions. Not only to wake you up from selfish thoughts, but also to make sure you take care of yourself and remember that the gifts you’ve been given can always be returned in one way or another. And it happens every day.

    Care. And take care.

Through all these months I’ve wondered how did it go? How did I end up being all fucked up in my mind, on the edge of paranoia without having one good reason to be so? And how will it go? And how was it? How is it? And how many times do I have to ask myself; am I doing the right thing? And how about all the people around me…

It’s business. On different levels. All in different leagues. Divided into groups. You win – you lose. Dogs chasing cats on shitty steps up and down the pyramid. Looking for a deathbed? You’ve come to the right place. Cause if you’re not an animal born with innocent instincts, be sure somebody will aim at you from a bunker. And you won’t notice it before you’ve reached a certain level, hit in the forehead with a red colored plastic bullet and you will wake up in your own bed the next hundred years wondering how much time you wasted on bullshit. After all, it could be worth it.

    Peace and love,
    -robert

  • Happy New Year to y’all! I hope you are as excited about the new year as I am. And that Christmastide have been treating you very well! For me it’s been a rollercoaster ride since I began recording new songs on the 23rd of Dec (not a very good idea) in between Christmas family parties and nights out on town wining not dining just to end up getting ill just before New Year’s Eve. But hey, I Ain’t Complaining (Status Quo album from 1988).

Fever has its upside. I dream weird dreams and the weirder dreams the more inspiration to suck from it. Try sweating liters upon liters of salty water for a night while trying to explain to your body that there’s not a chance in the world it will align with the healthy model of yourself in a parallel universe. And you twist and you turn and you sweat and you change your sports underwear twice or three times or whatever… till you wake up and feel your back ache from the torments that your heated mind caused on your innocent body. It just can’t be turned off.

Now I’m at peace with the whole of myself. I have smelled fresh air and food. And Christmas I threw out the window…

I thought I start the new year with a COMPETITION!!!
You can win music in physical formats like a CD or even on vinyl… how about that?
OR maybe I will sew you a nice Robert Post Owl Egg Cosy.
    You decide.

I ask you a simple question. What was the second single from my debut album?
Answer with a comment. I will announce winners early February and send you stuff after I have gotten your postal address.
    Cool, huh?

And another treat after a little help from you. As some of you might already know I have a live album coming out due in late February, but I would like to give you a taster and you get to choose it. Vote your favorite song to the top in the poll and I will post a FREE MP3 of that particular song when it’s home from mastering! Tx.
